Workshop cum Training on Research Methodology and Proposal Writing

 

Program:

 

Workshop/Training on Research Methodology and Proposal Writing

 

Structure:

·         This is one week half-day workshop cum training program requiring full time participation.

·         The program will focus on  multidisciplinary research methodology approach

·         Both the English and Nepali languages will be used as appropriate.

 

Target Group:

The workshop is intended for researchers and students studying/working in different universities, government offices, institutes or research centers who have completed coursework requirements for the equivalent of Masters, MPhil. or PhD degrees in different fields of studies, and have some research experiences. This program is also recommended to practicing researchers and those who want to pursue higher level studies.

 

Objectives:

 

At the end of the program, participants will be able to:

·         Select appropriate topics/areas and demonstrate necessary skills in identifying research problems.

·         Enhance research methodologies/techniques and apply them in their respective research studies/areas.

 

Methods:

Various workshop methods and training aids will be used to accomplish the program objectives. Basically, it will consist of lectures on the frontier of applied research in multidisciplinary fields, with an emphasis on qualitative and quantitative methods. Participants will also have an opportunity to present their research in the sessions.

 

Evaluation:

The participants themselves will evaluate the program.

 

Certification:

NPA will award certificates to the participants.

 

Time and Date:

The program will be conducted from 14:00 pm to 17:30 pm in Uniglobe college, Naya Baneswor. The program will be organized from August 19 to 26, 2012.

 

Venue:

The program will be organized at the premises of Nepal PhD Association (NPA)

 

Training Fee:

The program fee is NRs. 10000.00 (Ten thousand only) that will cover resource persons’ fee, stationery, tea and snacks. NPA will award 50% fellowship of total fee to first twenty participants. However, institutional participants will be charged a lump-sum amount of NRs. 7000.00 per participant.

 

Skills/Concepts:

·         Research problems and questions and how they relate to debates in research methods

·         Putting the problems into the context (theoretical frame work): Indentifying and critically reviewing relevant literature

·         Developing research objectives and hypotheses

·         Research ethics, approaches and Strategies

·         Sampling  Techniques

·         Research tour  in research centres and corporate houses

·         Qualitative and quantitative research methods: tools development, collecting and analyzing the data

·         Computer based methods for analyzing qualitative and quantitative data

·         Forecasting trends

·         Proposal writing

·         Presenting and writing research reports

 

Resource Persons:

NPA will invite eminent scholars on the frontier of research in various fields of studies from its wide range of membership pool as resource persons. Prof. Dr. Damador Jnawali,  Dr. Ram Kumar Phuyal, Dr. Dil Prasad Shrestha, Dr. Bhima Dhungana, Dr. Radheshayam Pradhan, Mr. Devendra Lal Karanjit, Mr Naveen Adhikari, Prof.Dr Nav Raj Kandel and Prof. Dr Devendra Prasad Shrestha will be the primary resource persons.
